Welcome to the world, Jacob Leif Porter
My Masterpiece is Here!
11 days ago - Friday 20th June, our beautiful son Jacob was born at York Hospital, weighing 8lbs (3.64kg).
He arrived at 4pm on the dot, after we went into hospital at 9am that morning. I’m told this is a short labour, but it felt like days!
We’ve been back home since Sunday 22nd, having plenty of cuddles and learning lots of new things together.
I’m loving every 3am feed, each cry that reminds me he needs me, even the explosive clean ups!
I was blown away by how incredible the NHS midwifes were who really looked after me, and the operating theatre team who were highly entertaining as they had to manually remove the placenta.
It’s crazy to think that less than a hundred years ago this would have been fatal, and how many women have died throughout history because of retained placenta.
I’m so grateful for the NHS!
We’re taking some time to rest at home for now, although he’s already proving to be a fascinating life model so I can’t resist picking up the pencil any time he’s still enough for me to sketch.
Aside from being a little irritated in the heat, we’re both doing really well, and have enjoyed the soundtrack of Glastonbury over the weekend. I’m feeling inspired to get back into the studio as soon as I can, to make work inspired by this new chapter.
Speak to you soon
