Welcome to 2024
Hello, welcome to my creative space!
2023 ended beautifully! In December Ben and I got engaged and our wedding plans are well underway for our Summer wedding. 2024 is well and truly underway and it’s shaping up to be a big one. However, I always think of the start of the year as March, as it feels strange to bring in a new year in the depth of winter, and right now spring is bursting into life. So, happy new year!!!
Last year my newsletter consisted of a month-by-month insight into the life of a painter. I do hope you’ll join me again this year to hear about my journey as a painter. I’ll be discussing my process, and my practice which involves research into art history and culture so I’ll be sharing that too and would love to get your thoughts as we go through the year.
The Maker: Life as a Painter
For the past few years, going back to when I did my degree, January has been a month of planning, sketching and researching. By giving myself time and space to plan and gather my thoughts I am then ready to get stuck in. It seems that when the world is sleepy I find it easier to have to space to reflect, do you feel like that? I would love to know how you use the start of the year.
It feels like we’re in a time where we have to have something to share on social media constantly and so end up doing quick, meaningless things just to get the likes. My mission this year is not do to this, I aim to work slower and to think more about what I want to communicate. As a follower of my journey, I hope to share with you some progress pieces here, and would value your feedback. I always feel like I grow more when I’m vulnerable and this definitely feels vulnerable!
